Assistant Superintendent

Battleground Country Club is seeking a motivated, career-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop under a progressive maintenance program while helping elevate one of Central New Jersey's premier private golf clubs.

The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent in planning and executing all aspects of golf course maintenance while helping lead a dedicated staff committed to providing exceptional playing conditions.

About Battleground Country Club

Battleground Country Club is an 18-hole private facility located in Manalapan, New Jersey.  Originally designed by Hal Purdy and later refined by Robert McNeil, our historic course is known for its pristine conditions and "golfing oasis" atmosphere in the heart of Monmouth County. The club is currently investing in the golf course through ongoing capital improvements, including:

• New putting green: Fall 2026
• Cart path improvements: Fall/Winter 2026
• Driving Range Tee Renovation: Spring 2027

This position offers the opportunity to be involved in meaningful projects while gaining experience in every aspect of golf course management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and supervising daily golf course maintenance operations.
• Lead, train, and motivate full-time and seasonal staff.
• Monitor turf health and assist with disease, insect, and moisture management.
• Perform and supervise fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Help prepare the golf course for daily member play and tournaments.
• Maintain accurate pesticide, fertilizer, and maintenance records.
• Assist with construction, renovation, and improvement projects.
• Promote a safe, positive, and professional work environment.
