Job Purpose:
Santa Barbara Golf Club is seeing a motivated and experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the management of the Golf Course Maintenance department. In this role, the Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to oversee daily maintenance operations, supervise and develop maintenance staff, and help ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards of quality and playability. Responsibilities include coordinating work assignments, providing training and leadership to team members, monitoring course conditions, and assisting with irrigation, turf management, and equipment maintenance. The Assistant Superintendent will also help ensure that all equipment is kept in safe working order and that departmental operations comply with company policies and safety standards, fostering a safe and productive work environment for all employees.
Schedule:
Early mornings to mid-afternoons Monday-Friday. Early mornings on weekends. Every other weekend off. Golf course is open year-round.

Job Requirements
Experience in golf course product application, water management practices, and irrigation systems.
Experience with Rain Bird irrigation systems.
Knowledge of environmental stewardship and sustainable golf course maintenance practices.
Ability to perform and coordinate turfgrass product applications in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Working knowledge of golf course maintenance operations, including equipment use, maintenance, and basic repair.
Strong math, budgeting, and computer skills.
Self-motivated with strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and continuously self-evaluate performance.
Ability to lead, supervise, and manage a diverse workforce with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
California Qualified Applicator License (QAL) , or ability to obtain within six months of employment required.
