Athletic Field & Grounds Maintenance Technician

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys turf and grounds work and wants to apply those skills in a public parks and athletic-field environment. Our maintenance team supports multiple parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and outdoor recreation facilities serving the West Ashley community of Charleston, South Carolina.

• Maintain athletic fields, park grounds, landscaped areas, playgrounds, and other outdoor facilities to a high standard of safety, appearance, and playability.
• Prepare athletic fields for games, practices, and tournaments, including field layout, lining, and other game-readiness tasks.
• Perform routine turf and grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, and general landscape care.
• Monitor turf, plants, trees, and landscaped areas for maintenance needs and take appropriate corrective action.
• Apply pesticides and herbicides as assigned and in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
• Operate and perform routine care of groundskeeping equipment, machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
• Inspect athletic fields, playgrounds, grounds, and outdoor facilities for safety hazards and promptly address or report concerns.
• Assist with cleanup and restoration of parks and grounds following storms or severe weather.
• Help maintain clean, safe, and attractive public spaces for athletes, families, and park visitors.
• Work independently and as part of the Parks Maintenance team to complete scheduled, seasonal, and priority maintenance projects.
• Assist with occasional evening or weekend athletic tournaments, special events, or urgent maintenance needs.
