Director of Agronomy/Superintendent Old Natchez Country Club

Heritage Golf Group is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Agronomy / Golf Course Superintendent to lead golf course maintenance and agronomic operations at Old Natchez Country Club in Franklin, Tennessee.

Recently acquired by Heritage Golf Group, Old Natchez Country Club is entering an exciting new chapter with significant investment planned for the golf course and maintenance operation. Upcoming projects include a full bunker renovation, irrigation improvements, and upgrades to the golf course maintenance facility and shop. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished superintendent to lead these initiatives while developing a long-term agronomic plan for the property.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong agronomic expertise, excellent organizational and communication skills, and demonstrated experience developing teams and managing golf course improvement projects. We are looking for someone who takes pride in course conditioning, understands the expectations of a private club environment, and is excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Position Responsibilities

The Director of Agronomy / Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the overall maintenance, conditioning, presentation, and improvement of the golf course and surrounding grounds. Key responsibilities include:

• Lead, develop, train, and manage the golf course maintenance team while establishing a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and professional growth.
• Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic programs that provide excellent playing conditions while protecting the long-term health of the golf course.
• Lead and oversee the upcoming bunker renovation, irrigation improvements, and maintenance facility/shop upgrades, working closely with Heritage Golf Group leadership, contractors, consultants, and club management.
• Develop short- and long-term plans for golf course maintenance, infrastructure, equipment, and capital improvements.
• Prepare and manage the annual golf course maintenance operating budget and capital plan, with an emphasis on responsible financial management and effective use of resources.
• Manage irrigation and water-use programs, including evaluation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of irrigation infrastructure.
• Oversee turf management programs, including fertility, plant protectants, cultural practices, drainage, landscaping, and overall course presentation.
• Maintain the golf course in excellent playing condition and routinely inspect the property to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee the maintenance and management of golf course equipment and the equipment repair/shop operation.
• Coordinate golf course construction, renovation, and improvement projects and effectively manage outside contractors and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing pesticide applications, chemical storage and handling, environmental practices, workplace safety, and golf course operations.
• Maintain appropriate records for chemical applications, maintenance activities, equipment, personnel, and regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the General Manager, golf operations team, Heritage Golf Group agronomy leadership, and other department heads regarding course conditions, maintenance schedules, tournaments, member events, and capital projects.
• Communicate effectively with members and club leadership regarding course conditions, maintenance practices, improvement projects, and the long-term vision for the golf course.
• Recommend equipment purchases, capital improvements, and operational investments that improve course conditions, efficiency, and the overall member experience.
