Job Details
Wapika Ranch is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, organization, and operation of a diverse equipment fleet supporting a private 18-hole golf course, working cattle ranch, and high-capacity equestrian operation.
Located along the upper Green River basin between Pinedale and Big Piney, Wyoming, Wapika Ranch is an exclusive, private family-owned retreat and fully operational working cattle ranch featuring an 18-hole golf course and premier equestrian facilities. Situated at an elevation of 6,925 feet, the property combines a pristine natural wetland habitat with world-class amenities and serves the ownership, family, and select guests, with approximately 300 rounds of golf played annually.
Working under the leadership of the Director of Facilities & Maintenance and the Golf Course Superintendent, the Equipment Manager will oversee a modern and diverse fleet that includes specialized golf course turf equipment, agricultural machinery, utility vehicles, heavy equipment, and auxiliary equipment.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring exceptional mechanical diagnostic skills, fabrication expertise, administrative organization, and a commitment to maintaining equipment to tournament-ready standards.
PROPERTY & FLEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Golf course: Par 73, 7,200-yard private 18-hole golf course, including nine established holes and nine newly constructed holes currently in the grow-in phase
- Golf equipment: A growing fleet of cutting-edge commercial autonomous/robotic mowing units, along with specialized greens, tees, fairways, and rough equipment
- Ranch operations: Fully operational cattle ranch utilizing utility vehicles, heavy equipment, agricultural tractors, implements, and other machinery
- Equestrian facilities: High-capacity horse riding and breeding operation supported by dedicated tractors, utility equipment, and vehicles
- Auxiliary fleet: Light trucks, trailers, marine equipment/boats, recreational vehicles, ATVs/UTVs, and backup generators

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND APTITUDE
Fleet Maintenance & Quality of Cut
- Oversee preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a diverse fleet including specialized turf equipment, greens, tees, fairways and rough mowers, sprayers, aerators, agricultural tractors, balers, ATVs/UTVs, heavy equipment, and backup generators.
- Maintain a high standard of quality of cut across all turf equipment.
- Perform precision reel grinding, bedknife sharpening, height-of-cut adjustments, and proper equipment setup for daily course operations.
- Service and maintain the ownership's auxiliary fleet, including light trucks, trailers, marine equipment/boats, and recreational vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair gasoline, diesel, and 2-cycle engines.
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and complex electrical/diagnostic systems.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and custom equipment modifications as required.
Shop Management & Leadership
- Maintain a highly organized, clean, safe, and efficient equipment maintenance facility.
- Ensure shop operations comply with applicable OSHA and safety requirements.
- Direct, mentor, and schedule daily tasks for the Assistant Equipment Manager.
- Train seasonal and full-time staff on safe equipment operation, daily pre-start inspections, and proper washing and cleaning procedures.
- Establish and maintain high standards for equipment preparation, reliability, cleanliness, and availability.
Administrative & Budgetary Operations
- Establish and execute a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and assets.
- Track equipment history, service records, and parts inventory using fleet management software.
- Assist the Director of Facilities & Maintenance and Golf Course Superintendent with capital equipment replacement scheduling.
- Assist with parts procurement, vendor relationships, and annual budget forecasting.
- Maintain accurate records to support equipment replacement, maintenance, and operational decisions.
Property Collaboration
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Director of Facilities & Maintenance to support golf course operations.
- Assist with broader golf course maintenance operations and special projects as required.
- Support ranch and equestrian operations when equipment expertise or mechanical assistance is needed.
- Participate in weekend morning duty rotations as required.
- Maintain equipment to tournament-ready standards and ensure equipment is prepared for daily operational needs.

Job Requirements
-Minimum of five years of professional mechanical experience
-Experience in the golf course turf industry, high-end agricultural operations, fleet management, or a closely related field preferred
-Proven experience maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of turf, agricultural, utility, and heavy equipment
Technical Requirements:
-Strong knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and 2-cycle internal combustion engines
-Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems
-Strong electrical and diagnostic troubleshooting skills
-Welding and custom fabrication proficiency
-Strong working knowledge of reel-to-bedknife geometry and precision grinding equipment highly preferred
-Ability to perform precision reel grinding, bedknife sharpening, height-of-cut adjustments, and equipment setup
-A degree, technical diploma, or professional certification in a related mechanical, diesel, agricultural, turf equipment, or industrial maintenance field is highly preferred.
-Relevant industry certifications, technical training, or equivalent specialized mechanical education are considered a significant plus.
-Equivalent professional experience and demonstrated mechanical expertise may be considered in lieu of formal education.
