Concord Country Club is an 18-hole, private non-profit, member-owned golf club with a rich heritage, providing its members with an outstanding golf course with impeccable greens, a welcoming environment, and family-friendly activities. Along with the privilege of playing on an outstanding course, club members enjoy a wide variety of golf leagues and events, casual dining, summer pool access, and full-service PGA Golf Professional services.

Purpose: To ensure the proper maintenance and care of the club’s equipment specifically used for the maintenance of an 18-hole championship quality golf course.  The Agronomy Team maintains 5 acres of green/collar turf, 5 acres of tee turf, 30 acres of fairway turf, and 80 to 100 acres of maintained rough and native areas.  We are primarily a bent/poa course on our shortcut turf, with blue/fescue/rye varieties in our mowed roughs.

Compensation:  Commensurate With Experience, Salaried Position ($70,000 - $90,000/yr)

The Concord Country Club Agronomy Department is here to maintain a highly respected country club beyond the standards of its Members and Guests!

We utilize a mix of tried-and-true Agronomic Practices in conjunction with cutting edge technology and equipment to provide the best playing surfaces in the State of New Hampshire.

Position Overview:

The Equipment Manager reports to the Golf Course  Superintendent, and works alongside two Assistant Superintendents, and is responsible for 1 Equipment Technician, to oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all Club owned equipment and vehicles.  Our fleet is comprised of a mix of manufacturers equipment including Toro, Jacobsen, John Deere, FireFly, Kubota, Ford, GMC, CAT, and Cushman.  The entire fleet is owned out right. This program includes the repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment repair or service while operating within the approved operating budget. The Equipment Manager effectively communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Superintendent and/or the Assistant Superintendents. The Equipment Manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a safe clean service area and maintenance building.  The Equipment Manager will work closely with the Superintendent in the development of each year’s operating budget to ensure that adequate funding is available to effectively and efficiently maintain the club’s equipment fleet.  They will also help the Superintendent maintain a 5 to 7-year Equipment Replacement Forecast for use preparing capital budget requests annually.

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements
Mechanical Experience
- Create and maintain a preventive maintenance program, according to manufacturer recommendations, for all CCC owned equipment.

- Demonstrate the ability to efficiently inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical electrical and hydraulic defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment and vehicles powered by diesel, electric, and gasoline engines and motors.

- Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, have the ability to make emergency repairs to equipment on the course.

- Complete knowledge of reel technology, including but not limited to, spin grinding, relief grinding, back-lapping, bedknife selection, bedknife grinding, quality of cut adjustment, height of cut adjustments, proper bearing function, and after cut quality and appearance.

- Responsible for the grinding and adjustment of all mowing implements. Grinding to be completed in accordance with manufactures specifications, as well as Superintendents wishes, using Foley Reel and Bedknife grinders.

- Keeps maintenance equipment fueled, oiled, and inspected to ensure use at any time.

- Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.

- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.

- Ability to move heavy objects.

- Must be proficient with welding and steel fabrication equipment.

- Working knowledge of major equipment manufactures in the golf industry.

- Must be willing to work with new technology, including robotic equipment. This includes evaluating areas where using progressive technology might be worth deploying, vetting manufacturers and distributers, and working with the rest of the Agronomic Team to deploy and operate this technology.

Staff Training & Safety Experience
- Places safety procedures as a top priority.

- Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.

- Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.

- Regulates employees’ use of equipment in absence of superintendent, if needed.

- Must be familiar with and adhere to the proper Haz-Com recycling program for disposal of various shop fluids and compounds that may be considered hazardous and maintain appropriate records of disposal.

- Ensures that all safety features on equipment are fully functional at all times, this includes shop equipment.

Administrative Experience
- Demonstrated quality verbal and communication skills utilizing email, phone and other forms of communication.

- Ability to work within integrated software systems including TaskTracker, Playbooks, USGA Deacon, TurfRad, and others, for the purpose of record keeping, job assignments, course condition monitoring.

- Purchase repair parts, supplies, small tools and equipment within budget numbers supplied by the Superintendent and Club Board of Directors.

- Utilizing TaskTracker keeps a complete set of repair and service records for equipment, parts inventory, purchases, and equipment conditions.

- Work with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain all necessary equipment inventories. Ability to be present during ALL major club functions including, but not limited to, 2-day Spring (June) Member-Member, 3-day Banks Member-Guest Invitational (July), 2-day Fall (Sept) Member-Member. These dates are published well in advance and require full crew participation to provide Championship playing conditions for participants. Please note that Concord Country Club is the regular host to many outside groups, such as the NH Golf, the New Hampshire Women’s Golf Association, and the New England PGA. Events that require full team presence may be added to the calendar on short notice in some situations.

- Weekend work may be required during in-season operations.

Agronomic Functions Experience:
- Ability to occasionally help perform routine maintenance tasks on the golf course throughout the season including but not limited to: walk mowing, triplex mowing, fairway mowing, aeration, vertical mowing, and other tasks as needed.
Educational Requirements
- Ideal candidate will have a degree or certificate from either a college or vocational school in a mechanical field of study.

- Ideal candidate will have or will be willing to obtain CTEM through GCSAA.

- Possession of a valid driver's license.

- Ability to acquire a NH DOT medical card.

- Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.
