Golf Course Equipment Technician / Mechanic

Job Details

  • The Equipment Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and preventative care of all golf course maintenance equipment including mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, sprayers, small engines, and related shop equipment.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all golf course equipment
  • Self-motivated to carry out assigned tasks with little or no direct supervision
  • Assist with training and input into training procedures for all golf course equipment
  • Perform welding procedures as needed
  • Adjust height of cut and reel to bedknives of mowers after every use
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, diesel, and gasoline engine issues
  • Maintain timely two-way verbal communication with supervisors and operators about recurring mechanical problems and concerns
  • Grind and set reels and bedknives
  • Maintain accurate service records and maintenance schedules
  • Keep equipment clean, safe, and operating efficiently
  • Assist with inventory management of parts and shop supplies
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop
  • Communicate equipment needs and repair timelines with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents
  • Mowing and other assigned tasks as needed.
  • Monday through Friday 5:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required during tournaments or special events
  • Occasional weekend snow removal as needed

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements
• Experience working with golf course maintenance equipment preferred, but not required
• Minimum high school diploma or GED plus at least two years’ experience in golf, small engine repair, automotive, marine, agriculture or related field
• Mechanical knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and small engine systems
• Ability to operate grinders and shop tools safely
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be able to use a computer and programs such as Word and Excel
Educational Requirements
Minimum high school diploma or GED plus at least two years’ experience in golf, small engine repair, automotive, marine, agriculture or related field
