Job Title: Golf Course Manager / Groundskeeping Supervisor

Job Summary

The Golf Course Manager / Groundskeeping Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance, agronomic health, and presentation of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This role oversees daily operations, staff management and ensures the course meets high standards of playability, aesthetics, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Course Maintenance & Agronomy

• Oversee all aspects of turfgrass management including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control
• Develop and implement agronomic plans for greens, tees, fairways, and roughs
• Monitor turf health and proactively address issues such as disease, weeds (e.g., Poa annua), and pests
• Ensure proper application of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides in compliance with regulations

Staff Supervision

• Recruit, train, and supervise groundskeeping staff
• Schedule daily work assignments and manage labor efficiency
• Enforce safety procedures and proper equipment use
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment

Irrigation & Equipment Management

• Manage and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring optimal water usage
• Oversee maintenance and repair of all groundskeeping equipment
• Maintain accurate records of equipment use and servici

Course Presentation

• Maintain high-quality playing conditions and visual appeal
  • Prepare the course for daily play, tournaments, and special events
  • Coordinate course setup including pin placements and tee markers

• Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, local, state, and federal regulations
  • Maintain proper chemical handling, storage, and application records
  • Implement and enforce workplace safety standards

  Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field (preferred) or 5 years of experience is acceptable.
  • 3–7+ years of experience in golf course maintenance or turf

                     management

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in turfgrass management practices
• Ability to diagnose and resolve turf issues quickly
• Strong budgeting and cost-control skills
• Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Working Conditions

• Primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Physically demanding (walking, lifting, operating machinery)
• Exposure to chemicals, equipment, and environmental elements
