Job Description

Deer Valley is seeking a well-organized, dependable mechanic with strong mechanical abilities and the initiative to work with minimal supervision.

The mechanic will maintain and repair our golf course equipment, including mowers, sprayers, tractors, and utility vehicles, along with a fleet of 80 Club Car golf carts. Our maintenance fleet consists primarily of Toro equipment, with some John Deere and Jacobsen models. Working closely with the golf course superintendent, the mechanic will oversee daily equipment setup, maintain reels and blades for consistent cut quality, prioritize tasks, and help evaluate equipment needs and source used equipment. Golf course experience is a definite plus, but an experienced automotive, diesel, or agricultural mechanic with a strong background and good diagnostic skills could be an excellent fit.

Facilities include a 2,000-square-foot shop and 7,000 square feet of indoor vehicle storage, as well as a private office and an air-conditioned workspace. The mechanic will have freedom to organize and upgrade the shop to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.

Depending on the candidate’s experience and preferences, the position may be structured as hourly or salaried, with a schedule of 30–40 hours per week. The start date can range from now through the beginning of December. Deer Valley offers flexibility in your daily schedule and values work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Communicate daily with the superintendent to coordinate equipment setup, review equipment condition, and prioritize work orders.
• Diagnose and repair gasoline, diesel, electric, and hydraulic equipment, both in the shop and in the field.
• Maintain and sharpen reels and blades to ensure consistent quality of cut throughout the season.
• Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment reliable and ready for use.
• Purchase and maintain shop tools and equipment.
• Order parts and manage inventory.
• Maintain accurate work orders, service records, and inventory records.
• Train staff in safe, proper equipment operation.
• Assist the superintendent in evaluating and purchasing used equipment.
