Golf Course Superintendent

Fox Valley Country Club — Lancaster, NY

Fox Valley Country Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to lead the maintenance and agronomic operations of our private golf course in Lancaster, NY.

This is an excellent opportunity for a superintendent who takes pride in course conditions, enjoys working with a team, and wants to play an important role in the continued improvement of a growing private club.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily golf course maintenance and agronomic operations
• Develop and execute seasonal maintenance programs for greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and surrounding grounds
• Establish mowing, watering, fertilization, aeration, topdressing, and other maintenance schedules
• Monitor turf health, disease, pests, irrigation, and overall course conditions
• Manage and supervise the grounds maintenance staff, including daily assignments and productivity
• Train employees on proper equipment operation, turf management, safety, and maintenance procedures
• Maintain and manage the course's irrigation system and coordinate repairs when necessary
• Oversee chemical and fertilizer applications in accordance with NYS regulations
• Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, fertilizer applications, and other agronomic practices
• Manage the maintenance equipment, including preventative maintenance and repair needs
• Assist with development and management of the annual maintenance budget
• Coordinate with the General Manager and club leadership regarding course conditions, projects, staffing, and capital improvements
• Work closely with club leadership to maintain a consistently high-quality playing experience for members and guests
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility and equipment area
• Be willing to work hands-on with the grounds crew when needed

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or similar golf course management position
• Strong knowledge of turfgrass management and golf course agronomy
• Experience managing and supervising a grounds crew
• Knowledge of pesticide, fertilizer, irrigation, and integrated pest management practices
• NYS Commercial Pesticide Applicator certification or ability to obtain certification
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to develop and manage a maintenance budget
• Ability to operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Experience working at a private golf club is preferred but not required.

Schedule

This is a full-time, year-round position. Golf course maintenance requires early morning starts and seasonal schedule flexibility.
