Golf & Grounds Superintendent
Job Details
Who We Are
Every community has a golf course. Some have exceptional golf courses. Very few have a place that brings people together through golf. Branch Golf Club is creating something different in the Dublin–Stephenville area of Texas: a welcoming golf destination built around a distinctive nine-hole course, an engaging practice experience, coaching, and places to gather. The Branch Golf Club is rooted in golf and built for community.
We are assembling our founding team as the property moves through construction, establishment, and opening. The people who join us now will help shape not only the playing conditions, but the standards, culture, and pride of this place from the beginning.
Your Role
The Golf Course & Grounds Superintendent will lead the establishment, care, and long-term presentation of the nine-hole golf course, practice facility, and assigned golf-related landscape areas at Branch Golf Club. This is our first key agronomy hire and an opportunity to build the maintenance operation from the ground up.
Working closely with ownership, project partners, and golf leadership, this hands-on leader will guide construction closeout and turf grow-in, develop sound agronomic and water-management programs, establish equipment and staffing needs, and create sustainable maintenance standards appropriate to the property and its resources.
The right person is both a capable turf professional and a builder of teams, someone who takes pride in detail, communicates clearly, manages resources wisely, and understands that excellent playing conditions are central to the guest experience.
What You’ll Do
- Lead turf establishment, grow-in, maturation, and ongoing maintenance of the nine-hole golf course, public practice areas, and assigned grounds.
- Coordinate with ownership, architects, contractors, and project partners on construction completion, irrigation and drainage performance, quality control, and practical long-term maintainability.
- Develop and execute agronomic plans covering turf health, mowing, fertility, pest management, cultivation, seasonal transitions, and course presentation.
- Oversee irrigation operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and responsible water use; establish effective water-management practices and documentation.
- Build the maintenance department: recommend staffing plans, recruit and train employees, set schedules, establish procedures, and lead by example.
- Prepare and manage operating and capital budgets, including labor, equipment, materials, supplies, and outside services.
- Help determine equipment needs, maintenance-shop systems, preventive maintenance schedules, and responsible inventory controls.
- Maintain accurate records of agronomic activities, pesticide applications, irrigation, equipment, personnel, and departmental expenses.
- Lead safe handling and storage of chemicals, staff safety training, equipment operation, and compliance with applicable regulations and licensing.
- Coordinate course access, maintenance timing, and daily conditions with golf operations, instruction, events, and practice facility leadership.
- Communicate regularly with ownership and leadership regarding course conditions, priorities, project milestones, budgets, and emerging concerns.
- Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, professional development, and pride in the property.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- The nine-hole course and practice facility establish healthy, consistent turf and develop into reliable, enjoyable playing surfaces.
- Grow-in and opening priorities are organized, communicated, and executed with clear milestones and appropriate stewardship of resources.
- The maintenance team is well trained, safety-minded, dependable, and proud of its work.
- Water, labor, equipment, and materials are managed thoughtfully, with accurate records and disciplined budget performance.
- Golf operations and maintenance work together smoothly to balance course care, practice access, and guest enjoyment.
- Branch Golf Club becomes known for authentic, well-kept golf conditions and a team that cares deeply about the place.
- You are trusted by ownership as a practical, solutions-oriented leader who helps build the long-term foundation of The Branch Golf Club.
