Greenskeeper

Kiawah Island Club is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Greenskeeper to support daily golf course maintenance operations at two of the nation’s premier private golf experiences: Tom Fazio’s River Course and Tom Watson’s Cassique. This position plays a critical role in maintaining championship-level playing conditions while preserving the natural beauty and environmental integrity of Kiawah Island.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform daily golf course maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, raking bunkers, blowing debris, and cup cutting.
• Maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and practice facilities to championship standards.
• Operate and maintain golf course equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with irrigation setup, repair, and monitoring to ensure optimal turf health.
• Apply fertilizers, topdressing materials, and other turf management products under supervision.
• Support aerification, overseeding, and seasonal agronomic programs.
• Monitor turf conditions and report issues related to disease, pests, drainage, or equipment.
• Help preserve the natural landscapes and environmentally sensitive areas surrounding the courses.
• Follow all safety procedures and club standards while working independently and as part of the agronomy team.
• Contribute to a positive, professional, and Member-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Previous golf course maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, or outdoor labor experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and early mornings.
• Strong work ethic with attention to detail and reliability.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
• Team-oriented attitude with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to learn advanced turfgrass management practices.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely operate golf course maintenance equipment and utility vehicles.
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and cold temperatures

Schedule Expectations

• Early mornings, weekends, and holidays required
• Flexibility during peak seasons and high-profile events
• Flexibility to respond to weather events and operational needs as necessary.
