Rockrimmon Country Club, a private country club located in Fairfield County, CT seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join our agronomy team. This position is designed for a turf professional who has strong experience with pesticide and fertilizer applications and is interested in expanding their leadership and management experience within a high-quality golf course operation.


Rockrimmon Country Club features an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones championship golf course, and this position will be actively involved in maintaining the course to the highest standards while contributing to the long-term agronomic vision of the property. In addition, Rockrimmon is actively currently involved in a Long-Range Master Plan which, over the next five years, includes a comprehensive bunker renovation, installation of a new irrigation system, and the redesign of seven golf holes, providing an opportunity to be directly involved in significant course improvement projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the club’s daily course preparation to consistently deliver championship-level conditions for the membership. This individual will also be directly involved in agronomic planning, including pesticide and fertilizer application programs, while working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in the daily management of the golf course maintenance operation. In addition, the position will assist with staff supervision, crew scheduling, and weekend crew management, providing valuable experience in team leadership and golf course operations. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of course management while developing the skills necessary for future advancement within the profession.

Responsibilities:
•    Oversee pesticide, herbicide, fungicide, and fertilizer applications in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
•    Perform accurate calibration, operation, and maintenance of spray units and application equipment.
•    Monitor turfgrass conditions to identify pest pressures, diseases, and weed populations.
•    Maintain detailed and accurate application records including products used, rates, weather conditions, and areas treated.
•    Assist in implementing and monitoring the club’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
•    Manage chemical inventory, storage, and safety compliance.
Leadership & Golf Course Operations
•    Assist in supervising and directing daily maintenance staff.
•    Participate in daily crew scheduling and work assignments.
•    Assist with training and mentoring staff on equipment operation, safety procedures, and course standards.
•    Help monitor course conditions and communicate agronomic priorities to the maintenance team.
•    Assist with planning and executing agronomic programs including aeration, topdressing, and cultural practices.
•    Assist in the execution of course improvement projects and long-term agronomic initiatives.
•    Supervise and manage weekend maintenance crews on a rotating basis.
Qualifications
•    Connecticut and New York Pesticide Licenses required or ability to obtain shortly after hiring.
•    Experience operating and maintaining turf spray equipment.
•    Strong knowledge of turfgrass pests, diseases, and weed identification.
•    Ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively with a maintenance team.
•    Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
•    Valid driver’s license.
