Job Details
Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club is situated in the heart of the historic community of Rancho Santa Fe, just 20 miles north of San Diego. This private, 18-hole championship course is exclusively available to homeowners within the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant.
The Assistant-In-Training reports directly to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent(s). Under the Assistant Superintendent's supervision, the Assistant-In-Training leads small crews and participates in the maintenance of the golf course and landscape areas. The Assistant-In-Training will be responsible for proper fertilization, pesticide application, equipment calibration, and assist in irrigation monitoring and repair. While conducting day to day maintenance, the AIT is learning and understanding the managerial decisions made to achieve necessary results.
This is a key role in the department and the goal of the AIT is to eventually move into an Assistant Superintendent role. The Assistant-In-Training may serve in the 2nd Assistant Superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.

Job Requirements
Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course greens, tees and fairways; maintenance practices for golf course turf; planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees.
Ability to work with and lead maintenance staff in small crews to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; prepare clear and concise reports; and maintain effective employee and public relations.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Required to obtain current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
Currently enrolled in or graduated from a turfgrass management program or related program.
Proficiency in computer use, knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications as specified by supervisor.
