Job Requirements
The Assistant Superintendent will aid the Superintendent and other Assistants in the following but not limited responsibilities:
Assist in maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and adjacent grounds, including the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance
Help ensures that the golf course is maintained to the highest level of quality turf and playing conditions for the membership and their guests
Assist in hiring, training, and managing personnel; assists in determining work priorities, planning, scheduling, payroll monitoring and reviewing work
Help maintains all grounds including the golf course and clubhouse surrounds. Parking and paddle snow removal, and other maintainable property
Assist in the supervision and maintenance of the irrigation, drainage and other water related golf course systems including daily overhead and hand watering needs through moisture meters to maintain fast and firm playing conditions
Assist in safely applying chemicals and fertilizers to all playing surfaces
Prepares and maintains all recordkeeping for fertilizer and chemical applications and follow all Department of Environmental Protection regulations and reporting
Attend seminars and trade shows
2 or 4 year degree in Turf Management or similar degree/certificate
1 Year of supervisory experience is preferred
Must have a valid drivers license
Must be able to obtain a State of Connecticut, Applicators Pesticide Certificate within 90 days of employment and a State of Connecticut, DEEP Commercial Supervisory Certificate within 1 year of employment

Knowledge of turf management i.e., ability to identify turf disease, insect damage, and heat stress
Ability to learn and safely operate all golf course equipment including but not limited to: mowers, truck, excavator and loader
Able to life over 50Lbs and have physical agility
Ability and willingness to work under adverse conditions of weather, temperature, dirt, noise and chemicals/fertilizers
