Job Details
Leewood Golf Club Club is an 18-hole Devereux Emmett design which was founded in 1922. Leewood is a full service family country club serving lower Westchester County and New York City with a full service restaurant, pool, and tennis facilities. Recent capital improvements include a modern irrigation system (2012), several rebuilt greens and short game area, full bunker renovation, addition of new tees, pond dredging, and cart path re-surfacing.
Leewood will be hosting the New York State Open qualifier in June and the Westchester Men’s Mid-Am Championship in October.
Yankee legend Babe Ruth and Thomas Carvel were longtime members of Leewood in its early years.
Club Highlights
- Total Rounds: 15,000
- Irrigation: Rain Bird with HDPE pipe
- Grass Type: Poa Greens, bent/rye tees, and Bent/Poa/Rye Fairways
- Staff: 20-peak season including 2 assistants.
- Equipment Fleet: mix of Toro and John Deere. Continuous replacement (everything is new since 2014).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and execution of all daily maintenance operations
- Supervise, train, and develop a diverse grounds staff
- Participate in water management, irrigation scheduling, and hand-watering practices
- Lead course setup to ensure championship-level playing conditions
- Assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications

Job Requirements
Prior experience as an Assistant Superintendent
Strong knowledge of cool season turfgrass management
Valid pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)
Proven leadership and team-development skills
Ability and willingness to be a working leader in the field
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Positive leadership style and team-first mindset
Motivated individual who is looking to learn and grow Team player who shares a common interest of a positive work culture
Thrives on a sense of ownership and takes pride in their work
Knowledge of turf management i.e., ability to identify turf disease, insect damage, and heat stress
Ability to learn and safely operate all golf course equipment including but not limited to: mowers, truck, excavator and loader
Able to lift over 50 lbs and have physical agility
Ability and willingness to work under adverse conditions of weather, temperature, dirt, noise and chemicals/fertilizers
Graduate of an accredited certificate, 2 or 4 year program.
Currently possess or ability to obtain a New York State pesticide license
Long term goal of becoming a Golf Course Superintendent
