Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent supervises golf course maintenance operations at Sun Valley Resort’s Trail Creek and White Clouds golf courses and reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.  Ensuring the course and surrounding grounds are maintained to the highest standards of playability, appearance, and safety. This position supervises agronomy practices, irrigation systems, turf care, staff management, budgeting, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and managing the annual maintenance budget and operating plan.
• Plan and implement staffing schedules to meet quality and operational standards.
• Supervise and perform daily golf course maintenance to ensure optimal playing conditions.
• Supervise drainage, irrigation, and pumping systems, and manage turf, tree, and plant care programs.
• Direct fertilizer, aeration, and pest management programs to maintain healthy turf and landscaping.
• Supervise equipment maintenance, repair, and preventive care programs.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas and storage facilities.
• Manage purchasing, inventory, and cost control for maintenance supplies and materials.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other safety and environmental regulations.
• Train, schedule, and supervise golf maintenance staff, including Mechanic.
• Collaborate with Golf Professionals and resort leadership to align course conditions with operational goals and guest satisfaction.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, with exposure to chemicals, fertilizers, and machinery.
• Assist in seasonal jobs, that may include Nordic trail maintenance or Mt. Operations.
