We are seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to join our team and take ownership of the installation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and optimization of residential and commercial irrigation systems.

Position Summary
The Irrigation Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing irrigation systems throughout our service area. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of irrigation components and hydraulic/electrical systems, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to efficiently manage a daily service schedule.
This position requires someone who can identify problems, determine the appropriate solution, communicate professionally with customers, and complete repairs correctly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair residential and commercial irrigation systems.
- Troubleshoot irrigation controllers, valves, solenoids, wiring, sprinkler heads, sensors, and other system components.
- Perform system start-ups, inspections, wet checks, adjustments, and seasonal maintenance.
- Identify leaks, broken lines, clogged or damaged heads, electrical issues, and improper system coverage.
- Program and adjust irrigation controllers to promote proper turf and landscape health while improving water efficiency.
- Perform irrigation system repairs including heads, valves, fittings, piping, wiring, and related components.
- Identify and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic irrigation issues.
- Perform system audits and identify areas requiring adjustments or improvements.
- Make recommendations for irrigation upgrades, repairs, and system improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and customer recommendations.
- Maintain an organized inventory of irrigation parts, tools, and equipment.
- Communicate professionally with customers and explain irrigation issues and recommended solutions.
- Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Maintain a clean, organized work vehicle and job site.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Work independently while maintaining communication with management and the production team.
- Assist with irrigation installations, renovations, and larger improvement projects as needed.

Job Requirements
2+ years of professional irrigation experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of residential and/or commercial irrigation systems.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical irrigation problems.
Experience repairing sprinkler heads, valves, controllers, wiring, and irrigation piping.
Ability to read and understand irrigation system layouts and diagnose system problems.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and irrigation-specific diagnostic equipment.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to routinely lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks including digging, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Reliable, punctual, professional, and safety-conscious.
Preferred Qualifications:
Irrigation Association certification or other irrigation-related training.
Experience with Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, or similar irrigation systems.
Experience with two-wire/decoder irrigation systems.
Experience troubleshooting irrigation wiring and using wire-tracing equipment.
Knowledge of pumps, backflow systems, water management, and irrigation efficiency.
Experience with irrigation design, installation, or system renovations.
Basic understanding of turfgrass and landscape plant requirements.
Experience using mobile technology for service documentation and scheduling.
Salary Range
From $25 to $35 per hour
