Mechanic/Equipment Manager
Job Details
Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Golf Course Mechanic/Equipment Manager will be responsible for managing all golf course equipment-related duties. Important aspects of this include maintaining a preventative maintenance program, diagnosing and repairing equipment issues, inventory management, instructing and/or training golf course staff regarding maintenance and safe operation of equipment, working within an established annual budget, maintaining the shop area in a clean, safe and orderly manner, and performing any other non-shop duties as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent.
Essential Functions
The essential functions of the Golf Maintenance Mechanic/ Equipment Manager include, but are not limited to:
• Communicate daily with the Superintendent and Assistants regarding equipment availability, repairs, and scheduling.
• Maintain entire fleet of golf course and landscape maintenance equipment.
• Assist in other property related equipment repair and maintenance (golf cart fleet, beverage cart, landscape trucks, etc...)
• Develop, implement, and document a preventative maintenance program for all equipment.
• Perform all preventative maintenance and curative maintenance to fleet of equipment.
• Inspect and adjust equipment quality of cut and height of cut.
• Sharpen reels and bed-knives.
• Manage a monthly / annual equipment repair budget.
• Order and manage inventory of equipment parts, fuels, lubricants, tools, and shop supplies.
• Oversee and ensure the cleanliness and organizational integrity of the maintenance facility.
• Oversee and ensure the maintenance facility is operating in a safe and sound manner while complying with all OSHA and CA state regulations.
• Establish a sense of purpose among a diverse work group by encouraging day-to-day commitment to our mission and operating values.
• Responsible for ongoing improvements to training programs relating to general safety, and equipment operations.
Physical Demands/Qualifications
• Must be able to stand, bend and twist frequently and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to manipulate different types of tools.
• Ability to climb up or down different types of machinery.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
• Standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
• Walking and standing are required for most of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Non-Physical Demands/Qualifications
• Read and understand maintenance and service manuals and perform recommended preventative and warranty procedures.
• Read and write English, Spanish speaking would be a plus.
Environmental Conditions
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Most work tasks are performed outdoors.
