Newport Beach Country Club 2027 Agronomy Internship
Job Details
One Internship. Three Unique Learning Experiences.
Newport Beach Country Club's Agronomy Internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in three key areas of golf course
management, while developing the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in the industry.
Golf Course Operations: Build a strong foundation in turfgrass management, course conditioning, equipment operations, and the daily demands of
maintaining a championship-caliber golf course.
Tournament Experience: Gain insight into the preparation, precision, and teamwork required to host the Hoag SENIOR PLAYERS Championship.
Irrigation Project: Experience our 2027 irrigation project firsthand, learning about modern irrigation technology, construction coordination, and
maintaining golf operations throughout the project.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of golf course maintenance, tournament preparation, and large-scale infrastructure improvements. Ideally, interns would begin on property in January to experience the preparation and build-up leading to our Hoag Senior Players Championship Newport Beach in late March. Immediately following the tournament, our team will transition into a six-month irrigation renovation project, along with several smaller projects taking place throughout that period.
Throughout the internship, the golf course will remain open to our active membership, providing valuable experience in balancing daily course conditions and member expectations with tournament operations and major construction projects. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process, collaborate with multiple departments, and work alongside contractors as we undertake a significant infrastructure upgrade. This experience will provide a well-rounded perspective on golf course operations, project management, and the teamwork required to maintain exceptional playing conditions while executing complex, large-scale projects.
Additionally, as part of the internship, Golf Course Maintenance interns participate in Polaris, our leadership development program designed to provide a broader understanding of club operations, strengthen leadership skills, and encourage personal and professional growth.
Your internship could be just the beginning. For the right candidate, this experience may lead to a full-time Assistant-in-Training or Second Assistant Superintendent position at Newport Beach Country Club.
