We’re seeking a proactive, hands-on Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support our Superintendent in maintaining championship-quality tees, greens, fairways and grounds across our Southwest properties. This role offers growth, leadership opportunity, and the chance to step into the Superintendent’s role when needed.
What you’ll do
- Assist the Superintendent in planning, scheduling, and supervising day-to-day maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, cart paths and landscape areas.
- Lead and train equipment operators; ensure proper operation, care and maintenance of mowing and mechanical equipment.
- Oversee and/or perform calibration and application of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides; manage irrigation, pumps and drainage systems.
- Participate in the repair / maintenance of irrigation components and system. Must be willing to learn RainBird 2-wire system.
- Serve as acting Superintendent in the Superintendent’s absence.

Our goal is to provide assistants with the experience, responsibility, and mentorship necessary to prepare them for the next step in their careers.
- Solid working knowledge of golf course turf maintenance (tees, greens, fairways), seeding and cultural practices.
- Experience with plant care, pruning, fertilization, soil conditioners, pest control and drainage solutions.
- Proficient with irrigation systems (wells, pumps, automatic controls) and equipment operation/calibration.
- Strong supervisory, scheduling and communication skills; ability to produce clear reports and maintain positive relationships with staff and the public.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed during peak growing seasons, tournaments, and special events.
- Must obtain state pesticide licensing within 180 days of employment. May require additional state certification/licensing as a chemical applicator.
Notes
- Position may require more than 40 hours/week to meet seasonal and operational demands.
