Small Engine Mechanic
Job Details
Sterling Small Engine Repai is seeking a dependable, motivated Small Engine Mechanic to join our team on a part‑time basis. The ideal candidate has some hands-on mechanical experience and is eager to learn specialized skills, including reel grinding and rotary blade sharpening. This role supports repair and maintenance of small engines, golf carts, and turf equipment, with opportunities for skill development and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes and tune‑ups
- Conduct pressure washing of equipment and parts
- Assist with reel grinding and rotary blade sharpening
- Diagnose and repair mowers, golf carts, and related turf equipment
- Replace or repair defective components, including belts, hoses, carburetors, starters, magnetos, alternators, pumps, pistons, filters, and fuel system components.
- Ensure all vehicles and equipment operate safely and efficiently and meet company and manufacturer safety standards.
- Pick up and transport parts as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Provide occasional remote repair support as assigned

Job Requirements
Experience Requirements
- Prior experience with small engines, mechanical repair, or related work, including troubleshooting and following repair procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple repair tasks and communicate equipment needs, timelines, and recommendations to management
- Ability to safely perform physical labor, including lifting 40–50 lbs, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and standing for extended periods
- Commitment to safety, including adherence to company policies and proper operation of trucks and heavy equipment in all weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for parts pickup
- Maintains a clean, safe, and efficient shop environment
