Farm Manager – Turf Farm Operations

Western Turf & Hardscapes – Reno, Nevada

Western Turf & Hardscapes is seeking an experienced, hands-on Farm Manager to oversee daily operations at our turf farm in the Reno area. This position is ideal for someone with strong agricultural, irrigation, equipment, and team management experience who takes pride in producing a high-quality product and leading by example.

Position Overview

The Farm Manager will be responsible for managing the overall operation of our turf farm, including:

• Turf production and field management
• Irrigation scheduling and water management
• Equipment oversight and maintenance coordination
• Fertilization and pest management programs
• Harvest scheduling and quality control
• Crew supervision and labor management
• Coordination with trucking, sales, and yard operations
• Safety compliance and operational efficiency

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily farm operations and production schedules
• Monitor turf health, irrigation, fertilization, and harvesting
• Manage and supervise farm employees and seasonal labor
• Operate and oversee tractors, harvesters, and agricultural equipment
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs on farm equipment
• Ensure quality standards are maintained for harvested sod
• Assist with planning crop schedules and field rotations
• Work closely with management to improve productivity and profitability
• Maintain accurate operational records and inventory

Qualifications

• Previous farm, ranch, turf, landscaping, or agricultural management experience required
• Strong understanding of irrigation systems and water management
• Experience operating agricultural or heavy equipment
• Ability to lead crews and manage multiple priorities
• Mechanical aptitude is a plus
• Valid driver’s license required
• CDL is a plus, but not required
• Will need to obtain all required pesticide and herbicide applicator certifications /licenses applicable to the position following hire
• Strong work ethic and reliability essential
• Bilingual is a plus
