Lake Waramaug Country Club is a private club in Connecticut featuring a 9-hole golf course, a beach club with marina access, and a tennis center with four clay courts. We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Summer Turf Intern to join our grounds team for the upcoming season.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in golf course management, turfgrass science, or outdoor hands-on work to gain valuable experience in a dynamic club environment that extends beyond the golf course.
Key Responsibilities
Position Overview:
The summer intern will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and crew to assist the daily maintenance and conditioning of the golf course. The position provides exposure to all aspects of golf course operations including:
- Daily golf course maintenance with a focus on monitoring greens moisture, syringing and water management throughout the property
- Course Setup
- Irrigation system troubleshooting and repair
- fertilizer and plant protectant applications(under supervision)
- Participate in course improvement and special project planning and execution

• Interest in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or related field
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a turf-related program (preferred, not required)
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical outdoor labor daily
Must be dependable and able to arrive on time for early morning shifts (5:00–5:30 AM start times typical)
Strong attention to detail and pride in course conditions
Positive attitude and willingness to learn in a team environment
Previous golf course or landscaping experience preferred but not required
Interest in pursuing a career in turfgrass management or related field
Ability to operate or willingness to learn golf course equipment
