Job Details
Supervise, plan, and coordinate the maintenance, construction, and operation of assigned golf course, oversees and coordinates the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and trains and supervises lower-level staff in the maintenance of the golf course.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)
- Participate in the selection of staff for assigned areas; provide or coordinate staff training; conduct annual performance evaluations; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
- Assess and provide training to all employees on equipment, mowing and course set up.
- Observe and monitor the operational condition and activities of the golf course.
- Requires interaction with community members who use the golf facilities and an ability to deal personally and professionally and in a courteous manner.
- Participate in the preparation and administration of department budget for assigned area; submit budget recommendations; reviews expenses with the Environmental Services Manager.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; work with the Safety Program Administrator to review and safety related incidents and accidents; maintain knowledge of state and federal occupational safety and health requirements.
- Perform daily and monthly safety inspections keeping accurate documentation.
- Plan, calibrate, and record fertilizer and chemical applications; implement appropriate fertilizer and pesticide programs.
- Supervise and plan annual aeration and overseeding of course.
- Monitor water meter readings and set golf course irrigation schedule. Must be familiar with Annual Water Usage Reporting (ADWR). Perform training of staff on the operation of equipment, to include mowers and loaders.
- Maintains a consistent record of onsite acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines and can work a flexible work schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supervises and directs staff. Supervisory responsibilities include planning, directing, interviewing, hiring, training employees, discipline action and evaluation of staff using performance evaluations, partnering with the appropriate departments to provide wage changes and adjustments.

Job Requirements
- Minimum of two years of recent golf course supervisory experience overseeing skilled trades required.
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is given priority and is highly preferred.
- Associate degree (A.A.) or Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from college/university in Golf Course Management, Agriculture or Horticulture
- An equivalent combination of education and experience equaling a minimum of five years may be substituted for educational requirement.
