Assistant Golf Course Equipment Technician

Location: Ooltewah, Tennessee
Facility: Private Championship Golf Course

Position Overview

The Assistant Golf Course Equipment Technician supports the maintenance, repair, and performance of all golf course equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the Agronomy team has reliable, properly functioning equipment to deliver championship-level playing conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily inspection, diagnosis, and repair of all golf course maintenance equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on mowers, utility vehicles, small engines, and specialty equipment
  • Set up and maintain cutting units to precise specifications (height of cut, reel adjustments, bedknife contact)
  • Grind reels and bedknives (relief and spin grinding)
  • Maintain accurate service records and equipment logs
  • Assist in managing parts inventory and ordering supplies
  • Keep the equipment shop clean, safe, and organized
  • Support occasional on-course troubleshooting and emergency repairs

Qualifications

  • Advance mechanical knowledge of small engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Willingness to learn reel grinding and precision setup techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Valid driver’s license

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience working on turf equipment
  • Familiarity with brands such as Toro, John Deere, or Kubota
  • Experience with reel and bedknife grinding

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work on equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
