Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Job Summary:  Work under the Golf Course Superintendent in a supervisory capacity.  Delegate work assignments, oversee job performance, inspect course conditions and provide operator training.  The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the Golf Course Superintendent’s capacity during his/her absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

1. Oversee the completion of work assignments by crewmembers and assist with field decisions regarding job procedures, work standards and machinery use.
2. Enforce safe working conditions for all job assignments, instruct staff on proper equipment use and work methods.
3. Supervise special projects and labor crews.
4. Report golf course conditions and all disciplinary problems to the golf course superintendent.
5. Open and close the maintenance shop and run operations in the absence of the golf course superintendent.
6. Assist with irrigation applications and monitoring and repair.
7. Serve as applicator or operator when needed.
8. Assist in personnel management, employee evaluation, safety and discipline.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has supervisory responsibilities that include:

          (6) Equipment Operator I, (8) Equipment Operator II, (1) Applicator

Florida Driver License

Minimum A.S. Degree in Turfgrass Management

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to indoor weather conditions (chemicals, fumes, etc.); and regularly works in outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
