Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will help lead and supervise a dedicated team of golf course maintenance professionals while assisting with daily course preparation, long-term agronomic programs,and improvement projects. The Assistant will also work closely with the Superintendent, Equipment Manager, golf professional staff, and other Club leaders to support a collaborative and professional operation.
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent serves in a supervisory role in accordance with Club policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training team members; planning daily work schedules; assigning responsibilities; evaluating performance; and helping create a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Play a leadership role in the daily preparation of the golf course for members and
guests, including the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
Assist in planning and executing daily maintenance activities and long-term
agronomic programs.
Train and mentor team members in all aspects of golf course maintenance,
including the proper operation, care, cleaning, and storage of equipment.
Foster a positive working environment through communication, accountability,
teamwork, and attention to detail.
Assist in implementing and managing a comprehensive water-management
program, including irrigation setup, runtime adjustments, hand watering, and
syringing.
Maintain a strong commitment to safety throughout the maintenance operation,
including the equipment facility, golf course, roadways, and chemical handling
and storage areas.
Work closely with the Equipment Manager to ensure equipment is properly
cleaned, maintained, and stored.
Supervise and participate in fertilizer and pesticide applications while ensuring
the proper handling of materials, inventory control, documentation, and
recordkeeping.
Maintain high standards of professionalism in team appearance, course presentation, equipment care, and facility organization.
Assist in preparing and conducting morning team meetings to clearly
communicate daily objectives, assignments, and safety expectations.
Recommend purchases and assist with maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
Participate in continuing education opportunities to remain current with industry
practices, technology, and innovations.
Communicate and collaborate with the golf professional staff regarding course
conditions, maintenance activities, and daily golf operations.

Job Requirements
Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and coaching skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment.
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commercial Applicator License, or the ability to obtain the license after employment.
Working knowledge of golf course conditioning, team leadership, equipment operation, water management, fertilizer and pesticide applications, and renovation projects.
Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage time effectively, and maintain close attention to detail.
Ability and willingness to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when necessary to meet the needs of the golf course and membership.
Salary Range
From $70,000 to $80,000 per year
