A New Era at Oakland Hills

Following one of the most significant golf course restoration projects of this century, Oakland Hills is entering an exciting new chapter built around championship golf, significant infrastructure investment, and long-term development of its team.

The club hosted the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur and is scheduled to host seven additional USGA championships over the next 27 years. A new state-of-the-art maintenance facility opened in 2025, and a new clubhouse opened in Spring of this year.

Initial Priorities

The initial focus will be on becoming familiar with daily operations across the club's 36 holes while developing a strong foundation in championship-level agronomy.

Team members will gain experience with:

• Water management
• Fertilizer and chemical applications
• Irrigation troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair
• Championship course setup
• Crew organization and team leadership
• Daily maintenance practices
• Exposure to the various facets of a high-level agronomy program

The goal is to build a broad understanding of golf course maintenance while developing the technical and leadership skills necessary for continued career advancement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate, associate's, or bachelor's degree preferred
• Previous golf course experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong interest in golf course maintenance and agronomy
• Desire to learn and advance professionally
• Motivated, dependable, and team-oriented
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment

Compensation & Benefits

• $65,000 – $80,000

About Oakland Hills Country Club

Founded in 1916 with Walter Hagen as its first club professional, Oakland Hills Country Club is a 36-hole Donald Ross private club with a long history of championship golf. The club has hosted 17 major championships and welcomed some of the game's greatest players, including Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Ben Hogan. Hogan famously referred to the South Course as “The Monster.”

The South Course was recently restored by Gil Hanse, Jim Wagner, and Caveman Construction, returning the course closer to Donald Ross' original vision. Following its 2021 reopening, the course quickly gained recognition among the world's leading golf courses.
