The Links at Gettysburg is seeking a motivated and dependable Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. This position works closely with the Superintendent to maintain exceptional playing conditions and overall course presentation while assisting with the daily leadership and operation of the grounds maintenance department. 

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and takes pride in producing a high-quality golf experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced turf professional looking to continue developing their leadership and agronomic skills at a premier golf facility.

The Assistant Superintendent will assist the Golf Course Superintendent with all aspects of golf course maintenance and daily operations, including:

  • Daily maintenance and conditioning of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and other course areas.

  • Monitor course conditions and help identify turf, irrigation, drainage, pest, disease, and maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with fertilizer and plant-protectant applications in accordance with established programs and regulations.

  • Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, repair, and water management.

  • Participate directly in mowing, course setup, bunker maintenance, aeration, topdressing, spraying, and other routine and seasonal maintenance.

  • Help ensure the golf course is properly prepared each day for member, guest, outing, and tournament play.

  • Assist with equipment operation and coordinate maintenance needs with the equipment technician.
  • Help maintain accurate records related to chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation, maintenance activities, and inventory.

  • Assist with special projects, course improvements, landscaping, drainage, and renovation work.

  • Support tournament preparation and elevated course-conditioning standards for major golf events.

With The Links at Gettysburg preparing to host the 2027 Legends of the LPGA Championship, this position also offers the opportunity to be involved in preparing and conditioning the golf course for a professional championship event.

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements
Pennsylvania pesticide applicator license with a Category 07 (Lawn and Turf) designation required.

Valid driver's license required.

Previous golf course maintenance or turfgrass experience preferred.

Turfgrass management education or related degree/certificate preferred, but relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.

Working knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, turf management, irrigation systems, and equipment operation.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Ability to work independently while also effectively leading and working alongside a team.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to course presentation and playing conditions.

Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when course conditions, weather, or tournaments require.

Salary Range

From $65,000 to $75,000 per year
