Position Summary
Foxfire Country Club is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and inventory management of all golf course maintenance equipment supporting our 27-hole golf facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a fleet consisting primarily of John Deere equipment while leading and working alongside two Assistant Equipment Technicians. This individual will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to ensure all equipment is operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential.

Position Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and performance of all golf course maintenance equipment serving 27 holes and club grounds.
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of two Assistant Equipment Technicians.
- Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, and electrical equipment systems.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment reliability and longevity.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and equipment histories.
- Manage parts inventory and coordinate purchasing of parts, supplies, and shop materials.
- Communicate effectively with the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and maintenance staff regarding equipment status and repair priorities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility.
- Assist with equipment replacement planning, budgeting, and capital purchase recommendations.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors, dealerships, and service representatives as needed.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and golf course construction, landscaped area maintenance work and building maintenance and improvement.
- Operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, welding, and preventative maintenance practices.
- Proven organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage shop operations efficiently.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Work additional hours as assigned/required.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
Education, Licenses, and Experience
- Previous experience as an Equipment Manager, Equipment Technician, Golf Course Mechanic, or similar role.
- Experience maintaining golf course maintenance equipment; John Deere experience is highly preferred.
- Undergraduate college study in turf agronomy or golf course maintenance desirable.
- Administrative and executive ability, especially critical in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Possibly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
- Frequent repetitive motions.
- Continuous standing and walking.
- Use of protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots and hat.
