We are seeking an experienced Landscape Crew Leader to lead a landscape maintenance and enhancement crew. The ideal candidate is a motivated, dependable professional who can lead by example, communicate effectively with customers and team members, and ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to Terra's standards.
Position Summary
The Landscape Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of a landscape crew and ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company quality standards.
This position is ideal for an experienced landscaper who is ready to take the next step in their career and assume greater responsibility for crew productivity, equipment, job-site organization, and customer satisfaction.
The Crew Leader will work closely with management to plan daily work, coordinate crew members, identify job-site needs, and ensure that completed work meets expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a landscape crew during daily operations.
- Organize and execute landscape maintenance and enhancement projects.
- Assign daily tasks to crew members and monitor productivity.
- Ensure work is completed according to company standards and specifications.
- Perform landscape maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, mulching, planting, bed maintenance, and seasonal cleanups.
- Operate commercial landscape equipment safely and efficiently.
- Properly maintain and inspect trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Identify equipment or job-site issues and communicate them to management.
- Ensure proper loading, unloading, and organization of equipment and materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Communicate professionally with customers and address basic questions regarding completed work.
- Identify additional landscape opportunities or property concerns and communicate them to management.
- Read and understand work orders, property specifications, and project instructions.
- Track materials and notify management when additional materials are required.
- Train and mentor less-experienced crew members.
- Hold crew members accountable to safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism standards.
- Follow company safety procedures and ensure crew members do the same.
- Assist management with estimating, job planning, and project preparation when needed.
- Complete required paperwork, photographs, and service documentation.
- Perform other landscape-related duties as assigned.

Equipment
Crew Leaders should be comfortable operating and maintaining a variety of professional landscape equipment, including:
- Commercial zero-turn mowers.
- Walk-behind mowers.
- String trimmers.
- Stick edgers.
- Backpack blowers.
- Hedge trimmers.
- Chainsaws.
- Bed edgers.
- Small-engine equipment.
- Hand tools and power tools.
- Trucks and trailers.
Experience with additional landscape equipment is a plus.
Physical Requirements
This position is physically demanding and requires employees to work outdoors throughout the season.
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Lift and carry materials weighing 50+ pounds.
- Load and unload equipment and materials.
- Perform repetitive bending, kneeling, lifting, and digging.
- Work on their feet for extended periods.
- Work in hot, cold, wet, and otherwise variable weather conditions.
- Safely operate landscape equipment for extended periods.

Job Requirements
2+ years of professional landscape experience preferred.
Previous experience leading or supervising a landscape crew preferred.
Strong knowledge of landscape maintenance practices.
Ability to operate commercial-grade landscape equipment.
Strong understanding of proper pruning, trimming, mowing, edging, mulching, and bed maintenance techniques.
Ability to identify common landscape plants, trees, shrubs, and weeds.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Reliable transportation to and from the company or job-site location as required.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to routinely lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Landscape Crew Leader, Foreman, or Lead Technician.
Horticulture, landscape management, or related education.
Landscape industry certifications.
Pesticide applicator certification or willingness to obtain one.
Experience with commercial zero-turn mowers and other professional landscape equipment.
Experience with landscape planting and installation.
Experience with hardscape installation or maintenance.
Experience with irrigation systems and basic troubleshooting.
Knowledge of turfgrass management and plant health.
Ability to identify common landscape diseases, insects, and plant health issues.
Experience training and developing entry-level employees.
Salary Range
From $25 to $35 per hour
