(NJ) Assistant Supt. – Morris County Golf Club – Morristown, NJ
Job Details
The Opportunity
Morris County Golf Club is seeking an experienced, motivated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to serve as one of two lead assistants, sharing equal responsibility for course operations, crew leadership, and course improvements.
This position is ideal for an established assistant seeking a new environment or someone developing toward their first superintendent role. We value initiative, teamwork, sound judgment, and a desire to learn.
Shared Leadership and Weekly Rotation
Our assistants alternate weekly between two areas of responsibility:
- Team leadership: Manage our 18-person crew, organize daily assignments, train employees, and oversee course preparation and quality.
- Operations and projects: Focus on chemical and fertilizer applications, moisture management, irrigation repairs, improvement projects, and business management.
Both assistants work closely together to maintain continuity and share decision-making responsibilities. The rotation provides broad management experience and includes every other weekend off.
Professional Development and Upcoming Projects
The superintendent, Nick LeViere, works directly with each assistant to build on strengths, address areas needing improvement, and prepare for future career opportunities. Development may include crew leadership, budgeting, agronomics, construction, and contractor coordination, with honest feedback and increasing responsibility. In 2027, the club plans a full irrigation-system replacement and the rebuilding of select green and tee complexes under architect Jaeger Kovich. The incoming assistant will participate in planning, contractor coordination, construction oversight, and returning renovated areas to play while supporting daily course operations.
