Laurel Valley Golf Club – Agronomy Internship Opportunity

Ligonier, Pennsylvania

Laurel Valley Golf Club—an iconic course designed by Dick Wilson and later renovated by Arnold Palmer—is located just an hour southeast of Pittsburgh in the scenic Laurel Highlands. Since opening, our championship venue has hosted prestigious events including the 1965 PGA Championship, 1975 Ryder Cup, and most recently the 2023 Palmer Cup.

We are now seeking a motivated, hardworking, and career-driven Agronomy Intern who is eager to learn, grow, and ultimately pursue a future as a Golf Course Superintendent.

Why Laurel Valley?

As an intern, you will work directly alongside our Director of Agronomy & Grounds, Golf Course Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendents, gaining hands-on experience in delivering championship-caliber playing conditions. You will be an integral part of our ongoing renovation initiatives, including the complete reconstruction of the 14th and 15th holes next season.

We are committed to your professional development—and to support that, all hired interns will receive a $1,500 signing bonus.

Internship Highlights & Responsibilities

You will develop a strong agronomic foundation through exposure to all major areas of golf course maintenance, including:

  • Calibration and operation of sprayers and fertilizer spreaders

  • Plant protectant and nutrient application

  • Daily water management and moisture monitoring

  • Operation of a wide range of turf maintenance equipment

  • Championship-level course setup

  • Irrigation system maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Cultural practices including aerification, topdressing, and grooming

  • Supervising and leading small crews

  • Actively contributing to a strong, team-first work culture
