About the Club
Lawrence Park Golf Club is a private 18-hole golf course, founded in 1921. Located on the shores of Lake Erie, in Erie, Pennsylvania. It has a full view of the lake with several greens and tees situated along the bluff. Our unique location provides breathtaking views of the lake, wildlife, and sunsets that rival any course in the world. The greens, tees, and fairways are poa/bent mixture. We see about 22,000 rounds annually. In addition to the course, we have a pro shop, driving range, short range, as well as a clubhouse and restaurant.
The Assistant Superintendent's responsibilities include:
- The Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Superintendent
- Assist the Superintendent with the everyday maintenance of the golf course and club property
- Help supervise a maintenance crew of 10 – 15 employees
- Oversee all course set up, mowing, and maintenance duties as well as training/coaching the maintenance staff in all golf course maintenance practices
- Physically perform maintenance tasks when necessary, and help set and maintain a reasonable and effective work pace
- Assist in maintenance on the irrigation system, including the diagnosis and repair of broken/malfunctioning sprinkler heads, controllers, pipes/wires, as well as seasonal irrigation requirements (spring start up, fall blow out)
- Monitor soil moisture levels in fine turf and employ syringing and hand watering techniques
- Apply pesticides and fertilizers to various areas of the course as instructed by the Superintendent
- This is a 12 month/ year job. During winter months, the assistant superintendent helps with equipment maintenance, outside projects like tree removal, as well as maintenance projects in the clubhouse.
- Become familiar with daily course maintenance requirements and be supervisor in charge in case of the Superintendent's absence
- Work directly with the Superintendent to manage the day-to-day operation of the crew

Job Requirements
Hold current PA Pesticide Applicators License or be able to obtain one within 1 year of hire date
The ability to make fertilizer and pesticide applications to various areas with ground driven sprayers and push spreaders
Perform calibrations to sprayers and fertilizer equipment
Understand the maintenance and operation of a golf course irrigation system
Have an understanding of the aerification process
Know the basic principles of equipment maintenance
Reel sharpening and advanced mechanic skills are a plus but not required
Play golf, or have a detailed understanding of the game itself
Average Hours: April-November – approx. 45-55 hours/week
December- March - approx. 30-40 hours/week
