Job Details
Wachesaw Plantation Club is an 18-hole, private, equity owned club designed by Tom Fazio in 1985. The club is located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. This par 72 course features Champion Ultradwarf Bermuda Greens, 419 Bermuda / Cavalier & Diamond Zoysia Tees, 419 Fairways and Roughs. The golf course is not over seeded in the winter, we use turf paint on all tees, collars, approaches and fairways December – February. The club installed a complete new Toro irrigation system with pump station, Toro Lynx software and all new HDPE piping through entire golf course spring 2022.
The Assistant GCS will assist the Golf Course Superintendent in the daily supervision and training of golf course maintenance staff, perform routine pesticide applications throughout the golf course and assist in irrigation management / repair. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Schedules & supervises the daily operations of the maintenance crew.
- Trains, motivates, & supervises staff capable or performing the tasks associated with maintaining the golf course. Assists Golf Course Superintendent with recommendations concerning personnel matter such as salaries, performance reviews & termination's
- Plans, schedules & monitors the daily operations, including responsibility for coordinating & assigning work, schedules, leaves & endures adequate staffing for meeting departmental goals.
- Establishes, promotes & enforces safety practices in accordance with local, state, & federal regulations.
- Ensures cleanliness of golf course equipment, maintenance facility & grounds.
- Assists staff with daily work schedule.
- Assists the Superintendent with record keeping for supplies, daily logs, application records, climatic condition records & personnel records.
- Assists in the development & implementation of necessary cultural practices needed to keep the golf course & surroundings grounds in good condition.
- Assists in the application of pesticides & fertilizers.
- Assume the duties of the 2nd Assistant, Irrigation & Application Technicians as required.
- Direct special repairs and modifications projects.

Experience Requirements
One year preferred as Senior 1st Assistant or minimum Three years experience as 2nd Assistant. Private club experience preferred but not required.
Minimum two-year turf certificate or four-year degree with minor in turfgrass or related field. Four-year degree preferred but not required.
All applicants should be dedicated to the profession and be highly motivated. In addition, all applicants should be detail-oriented, possess a strong work ethic and should be self-starters. Must Obtain SC Pesticide License within 90 Days of Employment. Knowledge and Experience working with Champion Ultradwarf Bermuda Preferred but not Required!
