Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Job Details
This position supports the Golf Course Superintendents in overseeing daily operations across Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort’s three championship golf courses. Responsibilities include supervising and directing maintenance crews, assigning daily work tasks, and actively participating in the care and upkeep of the courses to ensure exceptional playing conditions for all players.
- Ensures golf course grounds are maintained at pristine, tournament quality conditions
- Assists in supervising and training a crew of 20 plus employees
- Maintains and directs repairs to irrigation system
- Ensures that all fertilizer and pesticide applications are applied and recorded according to the product label
- Operates and maintains golf course equipment when necessary
- Follows all state and local safety and environmental standards
- Other duties as directed.

- Extensive knowledge of turf, soil, fertilizers, pesticides, golf course equipment and irrigation technology
- Possess strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible schedule and long hours when necessary
- Keen attention to detail and strong sense of urgency

Educational Requirements
- 2 or 4 year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Facilities Maintenance or related field preferred but not mandatory
- SC Certified pesticide applicators license or able to obtain one within 60 days.

SENSORY/PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Endure long hours of being exposed to all types of weather conditions
- Required to walk and stand for lengthy periods of time
- Frequently requires the ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-70 lbs.
