Job Details

Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club is seeking an experienced Equipment Mechanic to support the reliability, safety and performance of our golf course maintenance fleet. This hands-on role is responsible for preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across course maintenance equipment, with particular ownership of cutting-unit performance and quality of cut.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical judgment with careful recordkeeping, a safety-first mindset and pride in maintaining a clean, organized shop. This position reports to the Golf Course Director/Golf Course Superintendent and does not typically include supervisory duties.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect, lubricate, service, repair and adjust golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, general overhauls and day-to-day troubleshooting to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Inspect cutting equipment daily, maintain reel mower blades and cutting units, and ensure adjustments support an excellent quality of cut.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems; complete fabrication, welding, and body and fender work as needed.
  • Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records for all equipment.
  • Manage an appropriate inventory of commonly used maintenance and repair parts.
  • Establish and follow safe equipment-use procedures, keep traffic lanes clear, and maintain a clean, organized and safe mechanic’s shop.
  • Communicate equipment needs and concerns promptly to golf course leadership, attend staff meetings, and support emergency situations when required.
  • Perform other appropriate duties assigned by the Golf Course Director/Golf Course Superintendent.

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements
• At least 18 years of age.
• Four to six years of mechanic experience, including experience repairing golf course equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to repair and maintain a broad range of golf course equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Interest in the game of golf is preferred.
Educational Requirements
• Graduate of a vocational technical school or completion of post-secondary training in mechanics or small-engine repair.
Special Requirements
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on role performed in a golf course maintenance environment. The position regularly works around moving mechanical parts and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Exposure may include fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, noise, wet or humid conditions, temperature extremes, vibration and electrical hazards.
Candidates must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role, including frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, pulling and repetitive motion, as well as continuous standing and walking. Required protective equipment may include a respirator, gloves, hearing protection, eye/face protection, boots and a hat.
