Envu has entered into an agreement with Southern Soils Turf Solutions to expand distribution for Chipco Choice.
Southern Soils is a DeLand, Florida-based distributor of fumigants and a variety of products for control of nematodes, mole crickets and weed pests.
With the active ingredient fipronil, Chipco Choice is a restricted-use phenylpyrazole granular insecticide that is registered for control of mole crickets and fire ants on golf courses, sports fields, sod farms, parks, school grounds, commercial and residential lawns, cemeteries and camp sites.
This agreement between Envu and Southern Soils streamline and improve customer service and support while also improving consistency of product availability.
Use of Chipco Choice for fire ant control is limited to Alabama, Arkansas, California (Coachella Valley only), Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Fipronil, the active ingredient in Chipco Choice, was developed in the mid-1980s by the French chemical company Rhône-Poulenc. That company merged with Germany’s Hoechst AG in 1999 to form Aventis Crop Science. It was acquired by Bayer AG acquired Aventis in 2002. Twenty years later, Envu was formed when Cinven, a private equity firm, acquired Bayer Environmental Science.
