BX90 tractor line coming soon from Kubota
A new line of sub-compact tractors is coming soon from Kubota USA.
Kubota’s all-new BX90 Series will include five models when it hits dealers early in 2027 — the BX2190 (19.3 hp), BX2390 Deluxe (21.6 hp), BX2690 Premium (23.9 hp), and the backhoe-equipped BX2390S and BX2690S Premium. The company launched the original BX Series in 2000.
The new BX90 Series represents a complete platform redesign built with features such as all-day comfort, real loader power and mowing performance.
Features of the BX90 line include load capacities up to 721 pounds for the BX2190, BX2390 Deluxe, BX2690 Premium models and 904 pounds for the backhoe-equipped models, heavy duty mowing decks in 54- and 60-inch widths and intuitive operator controls with side-by-side HST pedals.
The two backhoe-equipped models also feature a flip-up seat and automatic stabilizer lock. The BX2690S Premium adds enhanced hydraulic performance for greater working capability.
Sod Production names new sales director
Sod Production Services named Neil Jones as director of sales. In this role, Jones will consult with sod farms located east of the Mississippi River to license and produce the firm’s proprietary turfgrasses, including Tahoma 31 and Endarra 81 Bermudagrasses.
Jones joins SPS after nearly a decade as a Senior Territory Manager for Buy Sod.
A native of Williamsburg, Virginia, Jones graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy. He started his career in the green industry as a golf course laborer. Later, after earning his turf degree, he spent nearly seven years as the superintendent at Williamsburg National Golf Club.
Otter Creek GCS is Emerging Leader winner
Mitchell Eickhoff, superintendent at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Indiana, is the recipient of the 2027 Emerging Leader Award from the GCSAA.
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual “who serves the industry as a superintendent with less than five years’ experience, student, associate member or assistant who displays continuous growth in service and leadership.”
Eickhoff is a native Indianan who originally attended Purdue University to pursue a degree in chemical engineering. While there, he joined superintendent Phil Fischer’s team at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburg, Indiana. Fischer now is senior grounds manager at Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis.
Eickhoff will receive the award in January during the 2027 GCSAA Conference and Trade Show in New Orleans.
Eickhoff eventually earned a business degree from Purdue and pursued golf course management as a career and subsequently earned a turfgrass certificate through the two-year turf program at Rutgers University then interned at Augusta National. He then served as an assistant at Augusta before being named superintendent at Otter Creek.
A 1964 Robert Trent Jones Sr. design, Otter Creek is undergoing a renovation that will convert what was a 27-hole facility into a 43-hole facility that includes a 12-hole pitch and putt and a 13-hole executive course.
