The Super-Scratch Foundation recently wrapped up play this year with its season finale — the National Invitational.
The event was held in late October at Huntingdon Valley (PA) Country Club and included 43 teams from across the country competing for more than $125,000 in scholarship funding to benefit the next generation of golf course superintendents.
Founded in 2020, the Super-Scratch Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting educational scholarships for those pursuing a career in golf turf management. The foundation brings together golf clubs, members, superintendents and industry partners to invest in the education and development of future golf course superintendents through its many fundraising initiatives and tournaments.
As the golf industry continues to face challenges in attracting and developing its future workforce, Super-Scratch remains committed to connecting those who enjoy the game with those who make it possible, ensuring the next generation has the resources and opportunities to succeed. To that end, the foundation has raised more than $200,000 through this year’s season-ending event to support student scholarships.

Unlike traditional golf competitions, the Super-Scratch National Invitational offers participating clubs the chance to compete on behalf of turfgrass programs of their choosing. Scholarship funds are directed to schools based on participating clubs’ selections and competitive results, creating a meaningful connection between golf clubs, their superintendents, and the educational programs developing the profession’s future leaders.
Jon Urbanski, director of golf courses and grounds at Wilmington Country Club, and club member Matthew Homer won this year’s season-ending event that pairs superintendents with amateur golfers.
In the individual competitions, 2026 U.S. Mid-Am champion
Andrew Bailey, this year’s U.S. Mid-Amateur champion, won low-amateur honors, while Ryan Moore of Hidden Creek earned low-gross honors in the superintendent division. Urbanski also won low-net (superintendent) honors.
The event also included the Sponsor Scramble at nearby LuLu Country Club, where the team representing Better Billy Bunker took top honors, earning $5,000 for the turf program of their choice.
The Super-Scratch Foundation will announce its 2027 schedule in the coming weeks.
